TKP design wins Best In American Living Award

The Best In American Living Awards are sponsored by the National Association of Homebuilders and Professional Builder magazine to honor the best in residential design each year.  This year TKP Architects is proud to announce that a home designed for Landmark Traditions in Evergreen Colorado http://www.landmarktradition.com/  has won both Best in the Mountain Region, and a silver medal for Best One-of-a-Kind Spec-Built home 4001 to 6500 square feet.  Coverage of the awards will appear in the February 2010 issue of Professional Builder magazine.

This unique home features striking antique timbers, spectacular custom masonry work inside and out, and a state of the art geothermal heating and cooling system that utilizes the temperature differential between the earth and the outside air to heat and cool the 5800 square foot home.  It was featured in the Denver Homebuilders's Association 2009 Parade of Homes as well, beautifully decorated, by Mountain Home of Evergreen at mountainhome.net  and was very well received by the public.

The great room of the home has a spectacular floor to ceiling stone wall including a large fireplace with a rustic boulder hearth and a huge single stone mantle.  The entertainment center is also in this wall, hidden behind unique bifolding reclaimed antique doors. The overall style of the home can best be described as "Rustic Zen" with contemporary design elemants executed in richly patina'd rustic materials. The reclaimed wide plank wood floors are particularly striking, and held up to the traffic of thousands of visitors during the Parade of Homes without any apparent affect at all. The beetle-kill pine timbers contribute to homes sustainable construction.

The Master suite is separated from the main living areas by a
stair hall featuring a two story wall of glass highlighting a 200 year old Ponderosa pine towering over the home.

The walk-out lower level offers a recreation room, bar, wine room, pool table room, huge stone fireplace, a second master suite, and two additional guest suites.

TKP Architects is proud to have been the architectural design firm for this unique, sustainable, award-winning home.  We are proud of our affiliation with Landmark Traditions and all of the other design partners who made this such a remarkable project.
